See how it works ->The median data scientist in the United States earns about $10,000 per month (BLS, May 2025). AI engineers with Teilur start at $5,150 all-in, roughly half, and work the same hours you do.
What AI engineers actually do
They put intelligence into products that already exist: wiring model APIs into a real codebase, building retrieval over your own data, designing the evaluation that tells you whether a change made things better, and the guardrails that keep a wrong answer from reaching a customer. This is applied engineering, not research.
The distinction that matters when you hire
An AI engineer is not a machine learning engineer and not a data scientist. Machine learning engineers train and serve models. Data scientists investigate what is true in your data. AI engineers take models that already exist and make them useful inside a product. Teams that hire the wrong one of the three lose a quarter finding out.
What we screen for
Whether someone has shipped an AI feature that real users touched. The field is too young for years of experience to mean much, so we look for evidence of having handled the parts that only show up in production: latency, cost, hallucination and the long tail of inputs nobody anticipated.
Time zones that matter
AI features fail in ways that are hard to reproduce from a screenshot. Latin America sits within one to three hours of EST and PST, so the engineer who built it can look at it while it is still happening.
English tested before you meet them
Every engineer is evaluated for English before you see a profile. Explaining why a model behaved a certain way is a large part of this job.
Transparent pricing
AI engineers start at $5,150 all-in for mid-level. You pay this; 80% goes to the engineer and 20% is our fee. No subscription.
