Interview questions

Questions for every interview round

Each round has an owner, a time box and questions that test the competencies above.

Round 1: Campaign Delivery & Measurement
Marketing Director · 45 min

  1. Describe a B2B (or B2B-like) campaign you executed end-to-end. How did you define success metrics and validate measurement setup before launch?
  2. Tell us about a time campaign performance underperformed. What specific funnel metrics did you inspect, what hypotheses did you test, and what actions did you take next?
  3. Walk through an example of how you translated target audience needs into campaign execution details (channels, sequencing, offers, or CTAs).

Round 2: Messaging & Sales Collaboration
Sales Lead · 45 min

  1. Give an example of positioning or messaging work you led or significantly improved. What customer/product inputs did you use, and how did you ensure consistency across assets?
  2. Describe a scenario where Sales feedback changed your campaign approach. How did you update lead targeting, messaging, or nurture, and what result did it drive?
  3. How do you define or refine lead qualification criteria with Sales to improve handoff quality? Provide a concrete example.

Round 3: Systems & Execution Discipline
Marketing Ops Lead · 45 min

  1. Explain how you used a CRM and a marketing automation platform together for campaign tracking and lead lifecycle progression. What fields, workflows, or statuses mattered most?
  2. Describe a time you improved data quality or reporting integrity in CRM/automation. What was broken, what did you change, and how did you verify the fix?
  3. When coordinating across teams (design, product, analytics, Sales), how do you track dependencies and prevent launch issues? Share a specific example.

Red flags to watch for

  • Cannot explain how campaign KPIs map to funnel outcomes (e.g., leads to pipeline) or provides only vanity metrics
  • Over-reliance on ad-hoc reporting without documenting assumptions, attribution limitations, or measurement gaps
  • Inability to describe practical CRM/marketing automation workflows used to manage leads and lifecycle progression
  • Examples show work completed without clear ownership, prioritization, or post-campaign learning/actioning
