Interview questions

Questions for every interview round

Each round has an owner, a time box and questions that test the competencies above.

Round 1: Brand foundation and messaging
Marketing Director · 45 min

  1. Describe a time you created or updated a messaging framework or tone-of-voice guide. What was the goal, what inputs did you use, and how was it adopted?
  2. Walk through how you develop channel-specific copy while keeping one consistent brand voice. How do you handle constraints like audience differences or format limits?
  3. Give an example of two pieces of brand content that were produced for different channels but used the same core narrative. How did you ensure alignment and what changed during iteration?

Round 2: Execution, alignment, and measurement
Head of Growth Marketing · 45 min

  1. Tell us about a brand or campaign initiative where you used performance data to improve outcomes. What metrics did you track and what specific changes did you make?
  2. Describe a cross-functional project where stakeholders disagreed on messaging or creative direction. How did you facilitate alignment and reach a decision?
  3. Share an example of how you define KPIs for brand work (even when attribution is imperfect) and how you communicate what the data does and doesn’t prove.

Round 3: Independent delivery and consistency systems
Brand Lead · 45 min

  1. Describe a well-defined brand project you owned end-to-end. How did you break down the work, manage dependencies, and deliver on time with quality?
  2. What brand consistency systems have you built or improved (e.g., guidelines, templates, review process)? Explain how you ensured adoption and reduced errors or rework.
  3. Tell us about a time you identified a gap in brand execution (quality, clarity, or consistency). What was the root cause and what durable fix did you implement?

Red flags to watch for

  • Relies on personal taste for brand decisions rather than documented messaging standards and measurable goals
  • Can’t explain how copy/performance improvements were driven by data or clear rationale
  • Difficulty collaborating with design/product (frequent rework, unclear briefs, or recurring misalignment)
  • Over-dependence on others for planning and execution of well-defined work
